RSLinx Enterprise (now known as FactoryTalk Linx) is an industrial communications server used to connect FactoryTalk-enabled applications—such as FactoryTalk View SE/ME and PanelView Plus HMIs—to Allen‑Bradley controllers. It provides high‑performance, native data access over EtherNet/IP and other Rockwell Automation networks, with automatic device discovery, tag browsing, and routing through bridges and backplanes. Designed for tight integration with the FactoryTalk platform, it offers diagnostics, security integration, and support for redundant communication paths to improve system availability. RSLinx Enterprise is intended for use by FactoryTalk clients; external OPC connectivity for third‑party software requires the separate FactoryTalk Linx Gateway (or use of RSLinx Classic, depending on the application).
